An anthropologist and photojournalist by training, Sita has been a dedicated student of yoga for 15 years, and teaching for nine. She is a certified Ayurvedic alternative medicine practitioner, as well as a Sivananda certified teacher who spent many years teaching Hatha Yoga in Kutir/Ashram in northern India, Singapore, Bali and Thailand. She is also a certified senior intermediate level 2 Iyengar teacher, and she practised both Hatha and Iyengar for a long time before finding her love in Ashtanga Yoga.
Sita is grateful to yoga for turning her life around from her earlier years of alcohol abuse. It purified and cleansed both her mind and body, and she is blessed to have this opportunity to teach.
She has completed both the Ashtanga Primary and Intermediate series, and she continues in-depth study of the practice at KPJAYI (K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute) with Sri R.Sharath Jois in Mysore, India. Her personal practice is in Ashtanga Mysore, but she is also well versed in other yoga styles including Yin, Restorative, Yoga Therapy, Prenatal and the Hot Yoga System.
In her free time, Sita loves street photography, painting, raw and vegan food, as well as research on the psychophysiology of lucid dreaming.
